April
Glossybox came with a Spring Fever theme. So instead of the usual pale pink we
got a gorgeous box designed by Pearl Lowe. It also contained this little
newsletter to read with questions with Pearl Lowe and Kate Cornell. It also
contained a offer on the perfume that is included in the box.
The
best product in the box was Essie Nail Lacquer. I have never purchased Essie
because it retails at £7.99 and I'm not that in to nail polish. However I am so
glad to be finally using Essie, I think in the future I will just pay, rather
than be disappointed by lesser brands. The colour I received is a gorgeous
lilac, very fashionable for now and incredibly easy to wear. It is called Nice
is Nice. Having read other reviews it seems that with a darker polish you can
get away with just one coat of the polish; I did not find this with my colour.
The polish dries so quickly and smoothly that doing two or three coats is no
chore whatsoever. The brush is a good quality - you get great coverage and the
shape means it's very easy to use. I also like the packaging, understated but
professional and definitely not cheap looking. This product was full sized and
would have cost £7.99.
My
second favourite is the Sun Sense daily face. This product offers SPF 50
protection and a light tint. I was really glad it is a pale tint because my
skin is still so light from this long winter we seem to be having! For me the
great thing about this product is that it is oil free which means it won't clog
pores or cause any blemishes. It smells good and feels nice. The packaging is a
touch aged for me, but sometimes the best products do have very classic packages.
A full size tube of this is 75g and costs £18.50. I got 10g which makes it
worth about £2.50.
The next two products in the box I was quite disappointed
with. Firstly, a perfume sample. This is by Yves Rocher and is called So Elixir
Purple. The full size of
this product is £44 for 50ml, my sample is 5ml which makes it worth £4.40. I don't particularly like the scent, but
I may try it out to see how it sits on my skin. The bottle is cute and
different from the usual perfume samples.
Secondly
the Nip+Fab Dry Skin Fix Body Butter. My flavour was Pistachio and the full
size (200 ml) of this product is £9.95 which makes my sample of 50ml worth £2.48. It's unfortunate that I was sent this
flavour because I've heard good things about this brand. Sadly, the colour is
too lurid and the scent not at all nice for me.
Despite
this two less than happy moments my glossy box this month is worth a staggering
£32.37 and considering it probably cost me about £9 (with a 6 month
subscription).
